I had a *very* long multi-modal commute when I lived in Providence and worked in Kendall Square. Great job, but walk-commuter train-subway-walk was ~4 hours/day. I started leaving a bike at one of the outer train stations in Boston and it knocked 1:20 off the round trip and I got my exercise in.
