This hit hard. This was my 1st GDC. I met a lot of great people and, in time, I hope new colleagues and collaborators. A lot of students and ppl young in their career (like me), some more seasoned, some that have become professors. It was fun, but even us 1st timers could feel a more corpo shift.

Infinite growth isn’t desirable imho. Meaningfulness is what matters the most, & #GDC felt meaningful this year. Lots of community and solidarity vibes that were much needed. However, we did feel the absence of all the people who couldn’t make it because of wars or didn’t feel safe coming to the US.

This talk was the one I took pics of the most. Bryant had a way better seat though. ☠️ If you were interested in this talk and was not able to make it ir see it; he has a good collection of the slides. The commentary along with the slides was preem, but the slides are very concise and helpful. 👍🏻

The best way to test lines is to READ THEM OUT LOUD. Most teams will have theatre or film and TV people hidden amongst you. The one thing we LOVE doing? Being dorks and having fun with lines. We'll do it for free. ☠️

Fun fact: if you simply spent $1,000/day per human worker you can have a factory full of happy and efficient workers who know what they're doing and stick around for many years and improve even more over time (In fact you could do $500/day per human and get 2 for the price of one lying machine)

Turned to a group of students shit talking other students in the line behind me at this party and offered a little life advice that I’m also going to share with the internet - the industry is small. We are listening if you are at an industry event. Don’t do that shit.

At GDC, there were All-Gender Restrooms in Moscone West. No one raised an eyebrow. We just went in, did our things, washed our hands, and left. If us weirdo nerds could do it, everyone can. Be more weird, people.
