Construction has begun on NYC's "deliverista hub," converting an abandoned City Hall newsstand into a place for workers to charge their batteries, access resources, and park their bikes. The hub will be a small piece of a larger patchwork of city infrastructure these 80,000 plus workers rely on.

The city passed a $116 billion budget yesterday, with $6.1 million for a "Department of Sustainable Delivery," but there are little to no details about the new department except that it would focus on regulation of commercial e-bikes, not of the app-companies.

The City Council is set to pass a bill on Monday that will make app companies responsible for their workers using safe e-bikes.
