The FDNY issued new guidance today for e-bike charging cabinets, acknowledging that the new UL 1487 was not recognized by OSHA (which I reported yesterday). But at today's Council hearing, the Chief of Fire Protection called the points made in my reporting "erroneous."

We are heartbroken to hear that another New Yorker was killed for daring to ride a bike. This 25-year-old man was killed when he was "doored" by a driver opening their car door into his bike. This young man is the sixth person to die by dooring this year alone.

And, look, if the complaint is that emergency vehicles can't get through now that Court St has been reduced to one motor vehicle lane, then in order to be consistent you need to argue for removing parking on every side street in the city, most of which are one lane. Those are the rules!

Recorded a 50 minute timelapse of the new Flatbush Ave center running bus lanes this first rush hour, as DOT crews are still installing signage and stuff. So far, it works! Drivers generally obey it and buses are clearly sped up. And don’t miss that ambulance bypassing traffic at the 6 second mark!

residents voted 52.8% in favor of increasing parking fees for cars according to weight. The owner of a BMW X2 (Diesel), which weighs 1,675 kilograms, will now pay equivalent of €717 Euros per year to park on a public street. (Before, about €321.) Direct democracy!
