for me a major part of making comics is apparently trying to draw historical chairs or ropes on a ship better. so that the gay kissing and interpersonal drama hits right

Thought I'd share a fun little process for this huge single panel page. I hated the pose in the first iteration and just couldn't find the energy in it. redrew it a bunch of times and finally found the right feel with his arm out stretched. I also redrew the background to add scale and peril.

Took a break from comics in 2025 for the most part as I just didn’t have the drive, but I finally got the urge again in December. Forgot how much I actually enjoy drawing! Keep your eyes peeled for more Jacques in 2026

Does anyone have recommendations for external express keys to use with the Wacom/tablet? I got a touch Cintiq and it's entirely useless with Mac (apparently much better on windows). So I need something to help me quickly pan/zoom/a few hot keys etc. Can't stress enough how useless the touch is.

Got a blu ray/dvd player for Christmas & so I’ve dusted off my giant dvd wallet. First film was Hitchhikers Guide To The galaxy. Which I remembered enjoying but what I didn’t remember was the incredible amount of design that went into it. It’s so beautiful! Jim Henson puppetry and everything!

Just a heads up, as I wasn't aware, but you can very easily change your default browser to another service in the Settings. Same for the iPhone settings too. It's taking some getting used to; not having the results I expect. But that's probably a good thing & will make me use my brain more

Listen we all make mistakes and you shouldn’t beat yourself up about it. Unless you print your own name wrong in the very first page of your newly printed comic. Then you should be roundly condemned by your loved ones and cast out into the rain.

If, like me, you are stuck in the hellscape that is Adobe and they've just sent you an email saying your plan is increasing, check to see what plan you are on... I never subscribed to the "pro" plan which just has a bunch of shitty AI options built in. If I swap to "standard" I'll save nearly £200.

I received one of those really annoying AI generated emails praising my books and how they want to "help" get it out to a wider audience. Except it wasn't even my book. Was so confused. But after a little search it turns out there's an author out there called Christopher Baldi. Stupid fuckin AI

Interesting to see pundits discuss Labour’s struggle to manage the working class and liberal graduates without realising that since uni fees, aka Graduate Tax, and the 2008 recession, these aren’t mutually exclusive. I've been practicing how to hand cut dovetail joints recently, so I set myself the project of making a little dispenser for rolls of poop bags. It was entirely stupid, flawed, janky at some angles... but I'm very proud. Held on the wall by a little French cleat if anyone is interested.

My beloved Wacom MobileStudio 2017, is being forced into retirement by windows. Plus it’s slowly grinding to a halt. What’s the best pen displays these days? I don’t need the computer element of this type anymore, just something to plug into a Mac. Any good trustworthy reviews online?
