"DEI" is not a bad word. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamentally American – a reflection of who we actually are. After centuries of erasure, we've seen progress in representation in recent years, and I don’t want to go back.

To me, diversity of thought is extremely important. As are free speech and other values that have been weaponized by bad actors. That’s more reason to defend their true value, not surrender their meaning to bad-faith distortions designed to legitimize bad ideas.

The rule of thumb should be: the less you are an expert, the more your views should tend to align with those who actually are experts.
