I remember knitting my first hat from a one-size kit, and being so excited... only to find it was too small. Did I find a hairstyle I could squish it over anyway? Yes, I did. But it was at least a few more attempts before I figured out the size and styles that work for my head/hair.

Timely Farm and Fiber Knits post as I randomly tried to knit 1-row stripe mittens last month and could not understand why they were so weird at the jog...sigh, should've looked up helical knitting instead of being stubborn. Will do better on the 2nd mitt, as usual lol

Good news: I finished knitting the Briodag set and all pieces are ready by October as planned. Of course, it was 80 degrees today and will be again this weekend. Autumn has to arrive at some point but I am not sure when!

Finally got out during weather cool enough yet still sunny enough to get a photo of my finished Briodag beret by Alice Starmore. It is unsurprisingly very warm. I'm happy to see that the pattern shows up in the orchid/violet part of the hat. Not bad for my very first stranded colorwork project!

Briodag fingerless gloves are making good progress! Keeping track of multiple charts is Not Fun with my attention span but I am muddling through it. The pattern is pretty rewarding to watch develop as you knit.

My Briodag beret is done! 🧶🎉 Taking photos is hard so I am gonna post once I have a friend take the photo of me wearing it. I knitted the bigger size which probably wasn't necessary, but it does fit all my hair at max poof, haha.

Good learning: knitting basic stranded colorwork is not as scary as I thought, and I am actually enjoying myself! On the other hand: I dislike this making of decorative knots. (K1p1 twice into same stitch, pass first 3 over last) But they admittedly look good, so I will suffer through it. 🧶

I'm now working on Alice Starmore's Briodag kit, and have just completed the scarf! A little nervous about starting the proper colorwork. Very much not the season for posing with scarves, even in air conditioning, phew.

Little Phoenix is learning to eat hay, taking the teeniest tiniest little baby nibbles. 🥹

I have one of these and it is beautiful, always gets compliments. And shipped to the US quickly!

That Strange Horizons, the current much deserved Hugo winner, is struggling to fund is a depressing look for the SFF online ecosystem. A brilliantv venue, and one of the few that pays, for SFF criticism as well as a source of great short fiction and poetry from authors from around the world.

It only took 5.5 months but I have FINALLY finished knitting my Damascena shawl. It is currently blocking and I will take pics of this glorious behemoth (look I usually knit shawlettes and...I should have gone down a needle size lol) to post later this week 🧶

Lace is the theme for #ShowMeYourKnits but for once I am not actively knitting lace. So I present a throwback to my wedding shawl/wrap, one of the first things I designed myself using a stitch dictionary and some Malabrigo Silky Merino yarn. I did not know how to knit triangles yet lol.
