On this July 4th my 1st cousin Col. Thomas Neel & his family have been on my mind–their efforts & sacrifices for our freedom now at such risk. The Neels lost all 3 sons in battle during the Revolutionary War & Thomas was killed at the Battle of Stono Ferry. My dad was named Neel, my brother Thomas.
