Every time I catch academic dishonesty, I require a re-write/re-do. Not only does this give students a chance to make up for their mistake, but they get a chance to see what they can do when they are held accountable. It's more work & stress on me but IMO it's worth it. 1/4

I always tell my pre-PhD mentees: the first 2 years of PhD are brutal time-wise and workload-wise, the last 3 years are brutal *emotionally*. You will question everything. Lean on your support system - peers and mentors- during these times. I wouldn't have gotten through without them.
