Furiously angry at the two-tier healthcare system compounding with the pink tax: a shocking number of subscription-based perimenopause healthcare providers are popping up. $2000/y for “personalized” hormone health care? Get fucked, this is Canada, that should be illegal.

We rallied. A decent number of people showed up, along with the media, and local electeds of different stripes. Might have been nice to see our MLA @christineboyle.bsky.social or the Minister of Education there as a clear indication of support from the Province.

Heading to Hinge Park to make sure the NIMBYs know that some of us who live here DO want a school (one that is maybe a LITTLE future proofed for sized?) and are just pissed it isn’t built yet.

D&D people: looking for suggestions for a simple pre-written one shot appropriate for a tween birthday party with varying player experience. Something similar to Wild Sheep Chase would be perfect. (Have already run Wild Sheep Chase for the birthday kid so gotta come up with something new!)

Tomorrow, Oct 4th, 10am: rally in support of Vancouver's Olympic Village Elementary School, delayed 15 years and now being opposed by NIMBYs. Hinge Park, the site of the proposed school.

Thank god for fibre arts, I’m pretty sure it’s the only thing keeping me sane right now. I don’t know if it’s burnout or perimenopause or just legitimate justified rage (or all three!) but I am so grateful that I get to go home and make yarn.

Saturday is my 15 yr work anniversary which makes it one of my longest running relationships that I’m not related to, which is a little bonkers to me.

Good news! Science World’s tarantula passed away. Bad news: apparently tarantulas can live for over 20 years. Oh god. (Seriously I’m very sorry for their loss but Jesus fucking Christ TWENTY YEARS? I have to go set something on fire.)

Today I defined power shopping at Knit City. I had 40 minutes in the morning and about an hour and a half in the afternoon (took a workshop in between) and had Things I Wanted To Buy. I bought so much so fast my credit card got flagged for fraud TWICE.

My heart is so full. I spent all day today with my hands on stunning fleeces, and talking to people about wool in a million different ways, from the technical aspects of wool prep to the history of textiles to the current state of wool farming and I couldn’t be happier. But I might pass out now.

My aracnaphobia and vertigo conspired together to kill me the other day. I have to hold onto railings when going down stairs so I don’t pitch down headfirst. Coming down the stairs at the skytrain, there was a spider on the railing that snuck up on me. That would be an embarrassing way to die.

Somebody needs to explain why I’m craving pie filling. Not pie, just pie filling. Like I would be super stoked with a can of sweetened mushy apples right now. I don’t understand my body.

Can’t decide if the old migraine is still there or if this is a brand new one from having a really stupid stressful day at work but either way I’m going to go hide in a box at the bottom of the sea.

Sure hope my kid isn’t the sneaking out type since he apparently can get up at 3am and go watch tv for half an hour giggling hysterically without me noticing.

Ulnar nerve woes continue to plague me. The suggestion of using a volleyball knee pad to comfortably keep me from bending my arm when I sleep did nothing to stop me. A more rigid brace causes more pain than I already had, and seems to make the tingling worse too. This isn’t going well.

Could it be? Could the four day reign of migraine terror be over? Dare I hope?

I started reading Tusk Love, which started as an In Universe smutty romance in campaign two of Critical Role and has been turned into a real romance novel. It is delightful and it has no business being this delightful.

Kyri, my adorable black kitten, has chosen the mat in front of the bathroom sink as her favorite spot to sleep for YEARS. No matter how many times she gets kicked BECAUSE SHE IS A BLACK CAT IN THE DARK which is literally daily. She just makes sad noises like it’s my fault. (It is.)

Sadly we already cancelled our Disney+ subscription earlier this year when we decided to divest ourselves of as much American bullshit as we could, but hey at least this helps solidify our decision? But we kept Dropout because Dropout is amazing.

Quite frankly, living half an hour from the US border feels entirely too close these days.
