I Fucking Love Australia (@ifloz) The Windmill Wars Alright, let me wrap my thinking gear around this bittersweet breakthrough, because I genuinely don't know whether to laugh or cry right now. China just built the single biggest wind turbine on the planet, in the ocean, during typhoon season, using a ship they had to invent from scratch just to put the fucking thing there. One turbine. ONE. Powering 44,000 households. Over 100,000 people. Twenty-two thousand tons of coal a year. Gone. And this thing is sitting 30 kilometres offshore in some of the most storm-punished water on earth. The previous world record was 16 megawatts. They blew straight past it. And that Godzilla-sized thing must be giving the data centre tech bros, Altman, Musk & Zuck, a boner big enough to swallow a semi load of Viagra. Because these guys are absolutely DESPERATE for power. That's their single biggest cost after construction. Power. Cheap, reliable, massive amounts of power. And here's China basically saying, yeah we solved that, come get it. Meanwhile the same billionaires spent millions getting Trump elected and just watched him pay a billion dollars to send cheap power away from their data centres. You couldn't make this shit up. It's like trying to punch yourself in the balls while simultaneously roundhouse kicking your own larynx. And THEN, and this is where it goes from embarrassing to genuinely insane, they PAID the French company $928 million to leave. Nearly a billion dollars. To go away. To not make cheap electricity. For New York. Which has some of the highest power bills in the country. That project would have powered over a MILLION homes and businesses in New York and New Jersey. A separate project cancelled in North Carolina would have powered another 300,000. So the solution to expensive electricity in New York is to pay a billion dollars to make sure no cheap electricity ever gets built there. That's not an energy policy, that's a hostage negotiation where YOU'RE paying the ransom AND the hostage is a wind farm. Where does that billion go? LNG terminal in Texas. More oil in the Gulf. Gas plants for data centres. None of which does a single thing for the grandmother in New Jersey opening her power bill. And here's what nobody's talking about loudly enough. Wind power is now under EIGHT CENTS a kilowatt hour. Sixty percent cheaper than it was a decade ago. It's cheaper than gas, cheaper than coal, cheaper than nuclear. The cost problem is SOLVED. The engineering problem is being SOLVED. Right now. Today. And the United States just paid to opt out at the exact moment the finish line came into view. So what happens next? Every offshore wind engineer in America has no domestic future. Every university thinking about building a program around this technology has no reason to. Every patent, every innovation, every next generation of this science goes to China by default because they're the only ones still playing the game. That's not America First. That's handing China a hundred year monopoly on the energy technology that powers the next century, and then being furious about it on Truth Social in 2035. Chess versus checkers?
