Entering month 6 of Mamdani's NYC & Robberies are down 11%, Retail theft is down 19%, & Murder is down 21%—all without "Adding 5000 new cops." Instead, he's invested in public safety free childcare, food, and better funded schools. Safer cities come from investing in people—not punishments.

Awful truth, unknown to 99% of the population... NZ Govt adopted an economic management model in the 1980s that MAKES SURE: 1. We always have tens of thousands of kiwis on the dole. 2. People with work / little work live in abject poverty that keeps them desperate for crap jobs. Why? [🧵 1/n]

So. If a closed caucus meeting has a confidence vote in the PM and the PM refuses to accept the outcome of the vote and they call in the Speaker to give advice, who says you can’t make him go. Then no one speaks up because they’d lose their party membership. Would it look different to this?

Oh, I know this one! We own Air New Zealand because its former private owners made a series of ghastly decisions and registered an operating loss of $1.45 *billion* in 2001 and the Clark govt stepped in, bought an 82% stake and renationalised it so we still had a national carrier.

Child poverty data from Stats NZ out today. All political parties except Act agreed to the Child Poverty Reduction Act 2018, creating legally mandated targets for child poverty reduction. Right now, we are missing even the looser targets the government has set. A 🧵

i am not hiding anything, just "made multiple repeated mistakes for 20 years" on something that's pretty damn hard to be mistaken about. i mean when you own as many properties as these poor fuckers do it must be hard remembering all of them when it comes time to declare and register them.

Also worth noting that our worst paid nurses in New Zealand, the ones whose pay equity claims were thrown in the trash by this government aren't able to join the strike today. But remember that primary health care, aged care and Māori health service nurses stand in solidarity with the strike.
