Zohran Mamdani walked into the Oval Office with strength, without betraying his own values or beliefs, and had trump eating out of his hand, defending and praising him, even saying it's OK to call him a fascist. Gave up nothing. Gained respect. Absolute masterclass.

What do you mean Benny Safdie AKA the director of The Smashing Machine, Uncut Gems and Good Time is the voice of Bowser Jr?? And Academy Award winning actress Brie Larson is voicing Rosalina?? Wild times.

“FUCK AI” is turning into a movement. After his Frankenstein Q&A at the Chinese Theater, Guillermo del Toro asked the audience to scream “FUCK AI.”

I saw way too many movies in October, so here are some smaller reviews (lovingly collated together) of six movies that stood out to me! Enjoy the first "Reel Round-Up"!

Reel Round-Up #1
Hello there, dear reader! Welcome to the first ever "Reel Round-Up": my compromise for when I've seen too many movies and not had enough time to review them all individually! October 2025 was jam-packed, and I even got to see some movies early via some London Film Festival screenings (not in London though - I try to avoid that city when I can).

One Battle After Another | Movie Review
Written and directed by: Paul Thomas Anderson Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti Paul Thomas Anderson is no stranger to accolades: he has received many over the course of his illustrious nearly 29-year career. However, despite rocking arguably one of the most beloved and impressive filmographies in modern Hollywood, "PTA" has never once won an Academy Award, despite being nominated eleven times.

Newcastle says no to fascism. The far right brought a hundred or so with them, bussed from far and wide. This city turned out 1000s, from local communities, estates and streets. Geordies of all backgrounds coming together and outnumbering the purveyors of hate by some distance. Newcastle united.

We don’t yet know who killed Kirk or why. Not that you’d know it from the endless numbers of accounts on X with huge follower numbers, including British politicians, making as yet unknowable claims about the motivations behind the murder. Exhibit A. Extraordinary stuff.

people on the right don’t tend to wait for any information about the motivations of the shooter before blaming the left. But Kirk had enemies on the right too; some of them surely live in Utah. And as with any shooting, the shooter’s motivations may not map onto any coherent politics at all.
