been furious with Starmer for long enough that this is genuinely coming as a surprise to me, but I'm feeling a bit.......sad this morning? not really about him per se but about the waste of time, I guess, and the end of yet another political failure when Britain really couldn't afford another one

it was a very good skeet (I think) that compared Starmerâs language to âyour ex who doesnât accept youâre dumping himâ. âI wonât walk away! Iâm not giving up!â doesnât work when itâs for others to decide whether you should, in fact, walk the fuck away now please

Len Deightonâs SS-GB is the most successful example of treating alternate history as a setting, not a genre: a master of the espionage genre weaves a tale through Nazi-occupied London that doesnât rely on the setting to be interesting, but grabs and uses whatâs unique about it. RIP to a great.

Medical transition for trans kids is now banned for new referrals on the NHS. Trans kids in the UK can still go private or DIY (for now). This means the new clinics that replaced GIDS are close to useless at best, conversion therapy at worst. 1/5
