So the Voyager game is good but the save system seems a bit naff - it's almost like an always on iron-man mode, but it only seems to save when you enter a system or there's a big plot point... not when you exit the game. Which makes it a bit awkward to play for short periods.

The Substitute 4 though is a massive improvement over the others though; it is literally the same movie yet again but this time he's fighting nazis (for some reason?!), and Treat Williams really does not like nazis, which I am very here for.

So the Substitute 3 is just the Substitute 1 and 2 again... starting to sense a pattern here. It does have a wet t-shirt contest if that's your thing though... not sure how well that works in a film about a guy acting as a substitute teacher in a college, but err... whatever.

The UK is the wrong place to set a Silent Hill game because that's just what it normally looks like on the average Tuesday morning in January.

I used to love The Mist story as a teenager, mostly I think because it involved two of my biggest interests at the time: terrifying original monsters and exploring the limits of human psychology lol. I still think its a good read but I have cooled on it a bit, I think I need more background now.

I'm pretty sure they did mention it specifically as an inspiration (among King's general output) but re-reading The Mist has me sure the diner scene with the flying creature from the start of SH1 was directly inspired by the first appearance of the two types of flying creatures in the story.

The Substitute is such a weird but also incredibly American movie. Sergeant Barnes from Platoon goes undercover as a substitute teacher at the school his gf works at, only to discover a drugs ring... he then proceeds to call in some friends and shoot up the bad guys at the school in the finale.

At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?
