First Two Buck Thursday of the season! It's been pouring most of the day so there are dozens of us here!

Watching "Birth of the Living Dead" in Apocalypse to Zombie in class. We constantly talk about the importance of context for the narratives we engage--from Antiquity to the 21st century. This documentary is fantastic and does a great job of locating Night of the Living Dead in 1960s America.

This all makes sense once you realize they’re not trying to govern successfully. They’re trying to steal as much money as possible and damage our country so much we won’t be able to go after them. 🫩

I think there is something about the narratives that tech people tell themselves about how their industry/engineering will fix the worlds problems that make it especially hard for them to confront their own bodyminds, their fragility, their mortality. Some quick thoughts about the "J.D. Vance is not a real Catholic" discourse. 1/ It seems fine that Catholics are arguing amongst themselves whether his rhetoric/expressed beliefs are consistent with Roman Catholic teachings and doctrine. Internal "policing" is a common thing people do.
