Balatro is a great example. No balatro clone has had *quite* the same heat, and in my opinion it's because the aesthetic choices enhance the feeling of being in some kind of video game opium den. This emphasizes to addictive nature of the gameplay loop, so it sinks its teeth in deeper

AND FURTHERMORE (lol) There is a third leg to this stool: in addition to ludic design, narrative, and aesthetic choices! We all know the music/imagery can make or break a game, but discussion on how aesthetic affects not just the narrative experience but the LUDIC experience is under explored.
