Maine is the most rural state in the US. And it’s poor, relatively speaking. It’s not all (or even mostly) down east elites. There are natives and French trappers and loggers and everyone else. And yes, Somali refugees. I’m confident Maine will stand tall. But they could use our help.

Remember that there are 1/3 as many people in the whole state as there are in the Twin Cities metro area. The two cities ICE is primarily targeting have about 70,000 and about 37,000 people in them. Nationwide solidarity is going to be VERY IMPORTANT esp. for their Somali refugee population.

Funny story about Neos. Or technically, NEOS. I knew of them for years and wore them for at least one winter before I knew their full name is New England Over Shoes. No one tell 🧊, okay? Let them freeze their toes off.

I love my current “normal” winter boots. I still wear my Neos when it’s really cold or if I need flexibility. But I picked up a pair of regular boots in a thrift shop in New Hampshire and I love them. Noticed a tiny problem the other day. Fixed it last night. Cosplay teaching me to sew FTW. ;)
