Lots of rumors flying around about what Sound Transit will propose next week regarding ST3. Worth noting that if they “defer” rail to Ballard…that means an indefinite delay. The ST board cannot be allowed to “defer” any project or station. They must put a date to every part of ST3, commit to build.

Of all the many excellent things said today at the #saveballardrail march, this has stuck with me the most. We refuse to be split apart and turned against each other. The extension to Ballard similarly isn’t complete, even to Market Street, without a stop at Graham Street. Or any part of ST3.

15th Avenue NW is not a great pedestrian environment but the march did provide a critical mass. Plenty of passing motorists honked their approval for delivering light rail to Ballard.

Dave Somers is the Snohomish County Executive and chair of the Sound Transit board. He is arguing for abandoning promises made to voters and not trying to build all of ST3. We will not allow him to succeed. There is no universe in which we abandon any piece of rail to Ballard.
