Figured I'd actually introduce my page with a pinned post. I'm Daspletoraptor. Some of you may know me from twitter. Here's some of my paleoart. I mostly do big ugly dinos, but expect more weird fish from me in the future.

Remarkable. Report of a Brazilian spiny-rayed fish dating to the Barremian stage of the Early Cretaceous, preceding the oldest known acanthomorphs by ~20 million years. Gondwanacanthus extends the roots of one of today's most prominent vertebrate radiations:

An interesting anatomical quirk of nanotyrannus I haven't seen get talked about is that all the lethaeus and lancencis specimens that preserve the premaxilla have a tooth line that would have caused the less- recurved "incisiform" teeth to project slightly forward, even slightly past the premaxilla.

I think I’ll call this commission “Turla Munchersss”! Millions of years ago during the Miocene, somewhere off the Pacific coast of SA, a gigantic Purussaurus sp. cautiously passes by a titanic female Otodus megalodon, each with freshly caught sea turtles.

Here's a T. Rex bored to death trying to bite their own tail. My partner asked me to animate it in stop motion, after she watched a video about the very important topic of "could T. Rex chew its own tail like a dog". The puppet is still a work in progress 🦖

is one of the first named dinosaurs of the year! Assigned by Rivera-Sylva et al (2026) to the troodontid lineage, it has oddly thickened frontals - creating a bulbous/domed forehead. Could this be a combat or display adaptation? It's remains from Coahuila,

A portrait sketch of Cryolophosaurus elliotti, a remarkable theropod from the Early Jurassic of Antarctica. This dinosaur is known for its tuft-shaped crest, positioned above the eyes. It was given informal name "Elvisaurus" due this feature.

An adult Ceratosaurus nasicornis caught juvenile Torvosaurus tanneri. These theropods, like an Allosaurus, were found in the famous Morrison Formation, but their remains are much less common. Despite some differences in food sources, they competed and killed each other from time to time.
