When the Bristol Hippodrome was opened in 1912, it featured a huge water tank beneath the stage. This tank could be filled with 100,000 gallons of water in order to stage naval and aquatic scenes. The tank was destroyed by a fire in the 1940s.

Now part of a Bristol retirement home in Clifton, this tower was until 1977 part of Emmanuel Church. In 1914 Agatha Miller and Archibald Christie married here and six years later Agatha Christie would publish her first novel - and go on to become the most read author in history.

Three-quarters of UK millionaires would be happy to pay more tax, research finds
Despite concerns super-rich are leaving due to tax burdens, 88% of those surveyed were proud to live in UK and would pay more to fund public services Nine in 10 UK millionaires are proud to live in Britain and three-quarters would be willing to pay more tax to ensure public assets get the funding they need, according to research. Despite widely reported concerns that the wealthy are choosing to leave the country owing to higher taxes, the survey found millionaires were much more concerned about medical workers moving away than wealthy people emigrating. You’re not violating a "reading rule" if you opt not to finish a book that's not resonating with you. Life is finite and we thus have a finite number of books to read. Reading shouldn’t be a chore, and you needn’t feel guilty for ensuring that your time reading is spent reading things that you love.

The haunted house wasn't nearly as scary as trying to hold Marie's hand. Did she know this was a date? Maybe I should suggest the Tunnel of Love next. Josie pondered, before a clown jumped out making Marie scream and grab her hand. Perhaps the Tunnel wasn't necessary after all.

Cobaea scandens is commonly known as the “cup-and-saucer” vine because its cup-shaped flowers sit within a saucer-like calyx. In the Victorian language of flowers it symbolised “gossip”; perhaps because when tea cups came out, so too did all the latest scandal!

I dove into the sea to swim in glorious cold and feel the crack of my ribs heaving for air because it made me feel alive and you had made me feel so little for so long. An old song, sung again as the selkie, the mermaid, the siren; I escape to the sea to be free.
