i think one of my favorite underrated things about tool assisted speedruns is those few runs where the timer stops at the last input, rather than the last hit; it's just in a state where the game will beat itself without further input. it's always funny seeing the protag stop dead in their tracks.

As a safety measure in case my computer ever updates without my permission, I made a drawing on mspaint that'd force the computer to wait until I respond to the save option before closing, so that I'd prevent it from restarting.

if i had the time, an interesting TAS project would be to play the exact same controller inputs (give or take loading time) across 2 notably different versions of a game, acting as a DIRECT comparison. like say Sonic Adventure vs. Sonic Adventure DX or Sonic Adventure 2 vs Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

got my quake set up to play later. Probably just going to play normal difficulty the first time through, but if it's anything like Wolf3D and Doom, i'll likely revisit on the harder difficulty later. (and yes i'm aware of the hidden Nightmare difficulty)

finished Dead Island Riptide. gameplay is similar to the first with a lot of QoL changes and is overall way more fun to *play*, + the ost has a solid feel to it that I like more than the first game. the plot is kind of a stinker that starts rotting and smells worse the further in you get lol.

a lot of Riptide's overworld zombie encounters have what i like to call the "dumb idiot baby check", which comprises of three things 1. a group of common zombies 2. one higher-threat zombie 3. (the check) one or two hidden sleeping zombies to catch you offguard if you lack situational awareness

i love when sidequests are started by just some guy in a room full of lootable objects, and as the player, you can just, walk in, loot the entire room, and completely ignore the guy pleading for your attention until there's nothing left to loot
