Don't read into it. Newsom is a Republican sympathizer and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he went the Eric Johnson route, positioning himself as a moderate, post-Trump Republican in 2028 to challenge JD Vance. Whether he does or not, he is not our friend and should be handled with caution.

The point here is to believe people when they tell you who they are. Gavin Newsom hangs out with Republicans because he likes hanging out with Republicans. This isn't 4-D chess. He wants to hang out with Ben Shapiro and Steve Bannon. When he says he agrees with them on things, it's because he does.
