Wow. That second season of Sandman was a rollercoaster. And by that I mean it started quite well, dipped towards boring in the middle, had two good episodes towards the end and then finished really, really badly. What a waste.

Today’s beer and book pairing matches Salena Godden’s excellent memoir of growing up in 80s small town England, Springfield Road, with a Pretty Decent NEIPA called Must Be Nice Up There. The book has been a revelation. Beautifully written and incredibly evocative of the author’s young life.

You signed them up for too many extracurriculars, forcing them into a Jessie-Spano-from-Saved-By-the-Bell-caliber caffeine habit. You didn’t sign them up for enough extracurriculars, and it’ll be your fault when they don’t get into Stanford.

Only about halfway through, but Dark Waters is the kind of film that should be on the national curriculum.
