Speed cameras work. People will try to drive illegally until they see a cop. Everyone basically does it. Rolling stops. Speeding up to yellows. Speeding period. Not yielding. Driving turns us all into psychopaths. We NEED alternatives to driving and proper actual vehicle enforcement not by cops.

It's wild to me that groups suggest that lower income folks drive more. Do those groups have any grasp of how expensive cars are? Minimum wage can barely afford someone a car payments and food, let alone housing. Vehicle ownership poverty is a serious issue in much of the world.

Cars cost us literally hundreds of millions of dollars just in St. John's. About a hundred million per year. We just kick 80 million down the road per year. I don't hate cars. I hate how they lose us money, space, lives and are damaging the environment. We need viable alternatives to cars.

I feel the same way about highway expansions. A lot can be done with the money wasted on Highway lane expansions which fail to address traffic.

I truly believe that motor vehicles have to be classified as deadly weapons. No more 'accidents'. List attention and drive without endangering anyone. Doing that would completely change the culture around the driving. We also need robust expansive public transit and alternatives to cars.

While we were in Italy my wife kept remarking on all the small vehicles, both personal and commercial. One thing I stressed was that it's not that people in Italy necessarily like or want small cars, but rather smaller vehicles are the result of a deliberate set of policy and design choices.

People act like getting kids places without a car is Herculean. I biked three (one not mine) to the Kingfield Farmers Market, 95% on bikeways. No car seats, no stress, just laughs. The challenge isn’t moving kids, it’s redesigning cities to work for people instead of cars. #StreetsForPeople

Almost every developer I work with does not like building suburban houses. It's a long ROI thus, they're not great for business. We all feel the housing affordability crisis. But for some reason, many municipalities refuse to change their ways to allow smaller, safer streets and affordable housing

The number of times I snapped my fingers and said 'hell-yeah' in this video was all of the video 😅 Jas and Pat nail it again! Stop signs and speed limits are regularly ignored by drivers. Bike whatever way you feel safe. The only way to have safer streets is to design for traffic calming.

People should be unhappy that the city's design forces everyone to drive lest they sacrifice their time. It need not be this way. We can provide 100km of safe all ages paths for cycling, scooting, etc without much effort or money. We deserve a people-first city #stjohns I can help with that
