This is one of those times when it’s important to recognize the asymmetry of the warfare here. For people like Weiss and Bilton and their backers, they win if they (1) corrupt CBS News OR (2) destroy CBS News and its credibility. Defenders only win by saving and preserving it.

New dataset published: this is the audio + transcripts of AI-generated podcasts using NotebookLM to analyse how it "translated" source documents from different times and cultures. My favourites are the 20 podcasts generated from an empty PDF. The paper about it is in press.

AI-generated podcasts mimic the style of intimacy and sense of community of real podcasts, but it's all performance, simulation. Cultural context is stripped. Anything can be translated, so the natural audience limitations of language and obscurity are broken - but the translation is flawed, fake.

This is extremely lawless and corrupt by the Trump DOJ. So, par for the course. The presumption of regularity is a joke now, and federal prosecutors won’t recover the esteem they had from federal judges for a generation. (Which, actually, is fine.)

That's true, and so is this: the PA whose job it was to stand just offstage holding the cocktail for him was Jennifer Mills, now a longtime producer on our show. And I didn't know that until about two years ago.

He came straight from taping his own show, and walked on stage still in makeup, and carrying a cocktail. Me: Where did you get that? Him: After the last taping of the week, a PA has an Old Fashioned ready for me. Me: You have a PA whose job it is to prepare your cocktail? Him: Network, baby!

Wow, the Supreme Court's third and final decision is Hamm v. Smith, a case about the execution of mentally disabled people—but the court simply dismisses it as improvidently granted. Thomas and Alito dissent. Count this as a win—the 8th Amendment survives.
