I am deeply sceptical of any list of great novels which includes Ulysses. To my mind, that book is one of two things: 1. Written not to be read but analysed. 2. A joke played on literary critics for taking themselves to seriously.

I have been a dick as a result of autism. I didn't realise it because I couldn't read social cues, but the fact that I was unaware of it doesn't magically undo the harm I caused. Being called out was the first (painful) step for me to become a better person, and I am grateful to those who did it.

I have found The Conversation to be a good source of more measured and in-depth news articles. In fact, I highly recommend avoiding the reactive speed reporting that makes up most of the news flow today. At the very best of times, it paints a skewed picture of the world due to lack of analysis.
