Garbage joyless call

At age 22, I once was trying to get to a freelance assignment in a city I didn't know and made a right turn from the not-right lane at a stop sign right in front of a cop (just cutting him off). He saw my car strewn with MapQuest pages, had pity and was like "just don't do that again."

Underwood's season felt like a bit of a hope-fuel. Like, there were flashes and it wasn't terrible, but you'll still need a BIG jump for next year to not feeling disappointing. (From someone who covered or rooted for more of these QBs than he'd like)

Last fall I went to a HS football game, and saw little kids running around the bleachers, causing mayhem and making friends the way I did at high holiday services as a child. For whatever flaws sports have, they can anchor communities large and small in a cool way.

I feel like for a long time, people extolled the virtues of fouling up three. And then when people started doing it, you realize it makes the end of potentially cool basketball games worlds less enjoyable.

It’s also nice that after a non-insignificant number of very expensive not very likable Knicks teams, this one that wins it is going to be extremely fun

Worth saying, basically every game in the series has been just excellent at the end. Good job by all.

I randomly met @jordanritterconn.bsky.social before I got my first job on the sideline of an extremely small time Bay Area HS football game. I was experiencing one of the worst hangovers of my life because of the Braves (stupid Rick Ankiel) and it remains memorable and surreal in its own way.

Hopefully this Knicks Eastern Conference run stands on it's own to a degree, even if the Finals go the way most might project. In a titles-obsessed space, good to appreciate some non-title accomplishments for what they are.
