The Horrors are persisting with unrelenting force right now but in a few days one of the poems from my very first publication is getting a new home and I get to share it with all of you and I am genuinely so excited.

I do think it's meaningfully different because the threat isn't as concentrated, but as a Central Texan: regular-ass fuckos have been big organizing here ESPECIALLY after both of these state-sanctioned murders so that we know how to track/report the secret police. Ramped up, not down.

For World Cancer Day, here is another poem. I have such a hostility in me to everything this cancer has changed or taken away and that includes making me wear gloves when I change my son; making me treat him as a problem, as something I can't handle, even for a moment, is unforgivable.

A while ago I made up a little poem for my daughter about how much I love her. Tonight she recited it for me, unprompted. I may never quite have the words for that experience.

Can't emphasize this enough. Moving beyond shame toward true solidarity with all people is how we get free. It's how we move toward a new and better world for those who come after us. Repair is needed, and that repair and restoration is part and parcel of the world we're building.

I've never seen a population more united. If people can hold onto that unity, if people can accept that different people will have different ways of confronting fascism, if we can remind NGOs and orgs that they can join but not control the resistance, then, well, people here will write history.

On the one hand, my workout today was laughably bad. I have discovered what real squat depth feels like and as it turns out, especially when you are shaped like a Hobbit, getting out of the hole is HARD. So I'm having to drop a lot of weight and relearn the form. On the other: I did the thing!!
