I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

Latent smell of smoke from the Deep Creek bushfire. Smoke haze over Rapid Bay in the distance, from here in Little Gorge Beach. Earlier I drove as far south as Delamere. Roads are open, but I took the hint to not go further. The cabin smelt of smoke almost immediately as I passed the general store.

The current out of control bushfire in the south of the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula has already burned through parts of Deep Creek, homes and businesses. Then there’s the native flora and fauna. This has not been an easy SA summer. It is hot, dry and windy w/ no rain in sight anytime soon.

First proper coastal Fleurieu recording stint in a long time. Absolutely beautiful weather today. Rapid Bay, Second Valley and the reef at Lady Bay. Traces of the climate-fuelled algal bloom are evident in places, but there’s more-than-human life present, demonstrating nature’s dogged resilience.

I’m not doing this everyday; pretty much every Friday if I’ve got the energy/patience in the morning to re-read my scribbles and consider whether grammatical first aid should be administered or further detail is necessary.

On the one hand, it’s disappointing that we were a bit early for snow in the Cairngorms back early October, but then again the temperature was probably a bit more agreeable.
