Back again to the Waiting Room in Stoke Newington last night for Beautify Junkyards. Excellent performance and was impressed that all six of them fitted on the little stage

Couple of charity shop 45s from this morning - Tito Rodriguez "Latin Twist" / "Taboo" and Les Chakachas "Twist Twist" / "Baila La Bamba". The Les Chakachas is not great (I recommend their version of "Brigitte Bardot" though) but the Tito Rodriguez version of "Taboo" is excellent

Well this was a great evening, Sabine McCalla was very good as expected and support band The Pegwells (female banjo/guitar old-timey duo) were great fun. Nice little venue in Stoke Newington (The Waiting Room below The Three Crowns) Remaining tour dates are Guildford, Chester and Glasgow I think...

The accuracy of the amber colour on album covers from Impulse! Records is strikingly inconsistent. Makes you wonder what other details they were overlooking when releasing jazz recordings. It has added an air of unease to my listening.

#NowPlaying Dirty Three "Cinder" (double LP from 2005) currently sounding pretty good in this heat. Found this in a local charity a few months back, a bit crackly though even after a clean. Only ever heard their one with Low before
