Arguably the greatest UK top 20 hip hop tune which sampled The Turtles yet somehow wasnât the focus of the $2.5m Turtles v De La lawsuit which changed sampling laws, drastically reshaping the economic and creative landscape of modern music

Arguably the greatest post-cow-punk pop record by a guy whoâd go on to inadvertently bankroll the Beastie Boys when he used an unlicensed portion of their punky-reggae track Beastie Revolution in a British Airways advert which heâd produced

I don't really care for the whole reggae being sunshine music notion, but on punishingly hot nights, this Benjamin Zephaniah track always hits the spot. A lethargic loping one-drop rhythm which, despite the song's title, feels like it's perspiring. None more clammy

Fun fact: Purdie's 1st recording session was in 1959 for Sylvia Robinson who paid him $80 to play on an update of Love Is Strange. 20 years later, Robinson produced ur-hip hop anthem Rapper's Delight. She didn't work with Purdie again but he'd wind up one of the most sampled drummers in hip hop
