You should probably really rethink what you're doing if you're on the board of Street Roots and refuse to recognize the workers union.

Street Roots' board of directors notified the NLRB that it will not voluntarily recognize the Street Roots Workers Guild on Dec. 9, and violated federal labor law by failing to post notice of our election by the end of the day yesterday. 1/

If you ever find yourself on a nonprofit board and the staff ask you to voluntarily recognize their union, just do it. Anything else is a massive 🚩🚩🚩

Street Roots' board did not meet our 5 pm deadline for voluntary recognition, but we are ready to work with them any time they are ready. CWA 7901 sent our petition documents to the NLRB today, but we will rescind it if the board recognizes our union voluntarily.  Thank you for your support!

Real amateur hour from the Street Roots board to not voluntarily recognize their union when every staff member voted in favor. Waste of resources and everyone’s time to force an election.

No matter how progressive you think your organization is, you can never underestimate how ingrained anti-unionism is in the managerial class. @streetroots.bsky.social MAY need time to figure out how to finance a union work force. But delaying recognition isn't how you say that.
