One of the more interesting merge games I've come across. Adds in a strong narrative layer. And has merging mechanic as part of more open RPG-like levels. Also there's an interesting real-time aspect to the merging that I hadn't seen before.

Another way of looking at this is that AI writing appeals to the ~60% of folks who cannot read or write above a 6th grade level. This razor works at all levels of society. Since it turns out that you can get quite far in the world by talking. And never needing to know how to read, write or think.

When a big new tech hits, more rabid capitalists wave away issues with "upskilling". Just learn the new stuff. Easy, peasy. Reality: There's ~1-2 generations left behind. Who don't learn. Their grandchildren are the ones who upskill. So society is left with a bubble of generational discontent.

Game devs, who grew up in the cultural desert of corporatized AAA console gaming: "Roblox and friendslop is this surreal and horrific new world no rational mind can understand." Me, who grew up with MUDs, the demo scene, LAN parties and web games: "Time is a circle."

Diagrams are pithy things. At their best, they orient you so that you can then spend a chunk of your lifetime understanding the true web of a topic. At their worst, they give you a shallow sense of legibility. You never wanted to understand. You just wanted to be soothed with an easy answer.

So if I understand correctly: Almost half the states are in recession. People who aren't top 5% rich can't pay bills. Or find jobs. All *human* indicators are going down. But! Because we are spending a lot on feudal AI tech, GDP + stocks (owned by the rich) look good. So the economy is great?
