although UKHSA notification data showed that the majority of people diagnosed with TB in England are not UK-born and had an average age of 36, people diagnosed only after death were more likely to be older, male, UK-born, live outside London and have a history of drug or alcohol misuse. (2/3)

It is possible to die with and not because of or solely because of TB. It is possible to have cancer and have TB, which may have hastened an inevitable death. TB is a disease that takes advantage of hardship, in so many ways.

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) continues to threaten efforts to end the global TB epidemic. A new study in Sierra Leone led by LSTM has highlighted a high mortality rate amongst people with MDR-TB, with around 1 in 10 dying within 12 months after successfully completing treatment. (1/3)
