Ask, and ye shall receive. This was a fun discussion - it was good to dive into object-level issues after so long operating in the rarefied Rawlsian space. Thanks

ICE killing
#AlexPretti
should remind you of police killing
#PhilandoCastille
. Both men had concealed weapon permits, did not draw their guns, & were killed in Minn. These homicides are the price of unaccountable policing. These deaths are variations on the same fatal theme.

Travel with your parents. Go to their hometowns. I went to Tacoma with my father and he told me stories I hadnât heard in my 35 years on this earth just because he had the landscape around to cue him. Do it before itâs too late.

I study it for a living, but this is why, in my gut, Iâve never understood why Catholics ally with right-nationalists. When you hang out with people who scream about âillegalsâ and âJewryâ, âpoperyâ is always, always the next word outta their mouth. It takes basically nothing for them to go there.

Here's the thing about the ICE killing: this just *is* what a wide-scale crackdown looks like. Whether it's deportation, gun confiscation, homeless relocation, whatever. The state, especially its policing arm, is a big dumb machine filled with trigger-happy morons. This is the only tool you've got.

You know, I wanted to dunk on Stranger Things, but midness was kind of the vibe this year. I played a string of pretty mid, AA games in 2025 and I had a really great time.

before i left was talking to a coworker directly managed by a GOOG VP about the Issues and she told me that it was like being managed by a Dark Souls boss: couldn't get anything out of him other than incoherent and mournful sentence fragments about why he was obliged to do something plainly evil.

The thing is that, in this tweet, what's happening 'at scale' are all examples of bad things only. It's inevitable, but distorting, that the millions of tasty AI-generated recipes, AI-aided cover letters, and personalized AI fact-checks don't get mentally included in what's happening 'at scale'.

While I do admire the Poasting, I think a huge chunk of the political disputes here come down to whether or not you think we should treat this reticence as an obstacle, or a constraint. There was wall-to-wall coverage of January 6th, and it basically moved the moved and persuaded the persuaded.
