Locals, CPD, press, a few protestors and legal observers remain on scene but the feds are gone. Air is still foul from all the chemicals. One protestor found one of the gas cannisters feds were deploying into the crowd

Remaining feds left the scene in a large caravan, deploying more tear gas straight into the crowd - and right at my feet - as they left.

Correction: it appears several federal agents, including their armored vehicle, remain on scene. CPD preventing protestors from getting close.

It seems the agents have left the scene via back alleys leading away from Kedzie. Walking west from the initial scene there's a trail of people coughing, neighbors turning on hoses to let people rinse their eyes. A local going by Jose says he was caught in gas an agent fired out a car window.

Continued video of feds gassing protestors and CPD alike. In the chaos one woman came to a CPD officer asking for help for a relative that she says feds just grabbed. Officer response: "We just clocked in. We don't know what's going on."

CPD moved through the feds to form another barrier between protestors and feds. Enrages the crowd. Water bottle thrown. A second later, feds deploy gas, even on un-equipped CPD. People scatter, including CPD.

Turns out the protest on the other side is much larger. Moments ago federal agents were face-to-face with protestors behind only a traffic barrel barricade. They just pushed that crowd back onto Pershing, sans chemical rounds, to move two vehicles off the scene.

CPD officers are not in riot gear or gas masks. Not interacting with the crowd except to form a barrier between the feds and locals. Behind CPD, federal agents form a huddle near their armored vehicle.

On scene on 40th and Kedzie in Chicago, where locals are facing down militarized federal agents over a possible federal immigration enforcement- related shooting. Details still scarce and developing. Locals chanting "ICE go home"
