Much of this growth has been fueled by reductions in fares. Fares for intra-city travel are down 7+% vs. 2019 while fares to/from Long Island stations are up nearly 15%. Costs are closely related to fares which are closely related to ridership.

These hours are illegal here on safety grounds. But American unionized workers love giving themselves unsafe hours for the overtime and reject the rotation system we use to give train crews comfortable hours. They prefer a hierarchy ranking by seniority to haze junior workers.

Good idea. Much smarter to use existing (empty) park and ride lots in the suburbs instead of building another 5,000 car garage in a super expensive airport location.

Fresno greenlights $5 million for San Joaquin River trail extension west of Highway 41
Fresno is very close to building a trail extension to connect Woodward Park to the Palm Avenue GB3. The Fresno City Council on Thursday authorized an application for $5.1 million in state climate-bond money toward a long-planned extension of the Lewis S. Eaton Trail into the River West area along the San Joaquin River. The grant — a fraction of the project's roughly $23 million construction estimate — now goes to the San Joaquin River Conservancy's board, which votes Wednesday on whether to award it.

Ridiculous. What's going to happen is that instead of organized watch parties, bars and other establishments will have events which will spill out into the street, triggering the typical heavy-handed NYPD response. We elected Zohran Mamdani, not the NYPD. He should fix this.
