Let the games industry die. We all have backlogs longer than the rest of our lifespans, not to mention thousands of amazing indie games and retro games that we've yet to discover waiting for us. And new art will still get made. Slowly, as an evening hobby along with a day-job, but it will.

A kid pirating a game is not a "lost sale". That kid doesn't have the money to buy the game anyway. A kid with pirated games will however grow up to be into videogames, and buy a whole lot of them later in life. That money is what the game industry runs on.
