Just noticed an additional two Skyraider II aircraft, callsigns "ZORRO," doing training ops over Oklahoma. This is now six trainers I've seen that appear to be in use by the 137th Special Operations Wing at Will Rogers ANG in Oklahoma City. First two were HOBO 61 & 71

As I have said to friends many times, the crises of the 21st century (GWOT, financial crises, etc) simply donāt add up in a material sense to the level of crazy and authoritarianism we are seeing today. Internet and social media are a much better root cause explanation.

cheering and celebrating after assassinations is by no means new. what has changed is that social media gives us greater access to a greater number of people a few accounts from immediately after the kennedy assassination

Political violence is bad because civil conflict is absolutely fucking terrible for everyone. It empowers the worst people within a society and feeds into endless cycles of escalating violence that get harder and harder to stop.

This is really, really bad news. I donāt care if you donāt like Kirk. No one deserves to be shot. This is dreadful news for people speaking publicly, who increasingly must fear for their safety, and also for the inevitable crackdown that will follow.

Yesterday morning, journalists at The Oklahoman noticed a ton of people online were trying to find info about HB 3133. The bill died in committee last year and hasn't been a topic since then. This usually happens when a TikTok goes viral, and we eventually found the source of all the commotion.

YouTube sells targeted ads. Someone wants this poster to see that content. One of the fundamental dual reality tricks in the modern world is that we believe that our digital experiences are shared when they are not.

maybe its too blunt of an object but i will go to my grave thinking a big part of why we got here is a refusal to say dumb people and dumb ideas are dumb. we were too polite, and instead we said "that's an interesting take" when we should have said "shut the fuck up, you absolute dumbass."

It's not easy to explain Scheels, a store that might be built in OKC if the city council approves an $8 million incentives deal Tuesday. I visited the store in Tulsa (also incentivized) and shot photos, video and wrote a story to better explain it.

Something I don't think Gannett does a good enough job with is promoting how much it provides to digital subscribers. It's far more than subscribing to The Oklahoman (and my work). You get bonus sections daily, and you get access to USA Today and Gannett newspapers from more than 40 states.
