Ended the week w/ a professionally nourishing post-observation follow-up w/ a teacher. Our district admin are in PD w/ a consultant to improve & calibrate feedback. I hosted a team of 7, incl our superintendent. Of all our commendations & recommendations, teacher found mine the best in a blind read.

A portion of our middle schoolers haven’t secured many social and emotional skills that my mind tells me they should already have. It feels more prevalent and impactful than in the past, but I wonder if that’s so, or if it’s the same as it ever was, but shifted in some way in its manifestation.

During the drive to the airport yesterday, I had to ponder both this license plate and how to take a picture of it while driving at 65mph in a downpour. But I had total and absolute belief in my own abilities, over and beyond anything the universe could throw at me, and here we are.

It’s all about the work. I love the work.

Nine weeks ago we took in two young brothers for emergency foster care — we weren’t looking to be foster parents. We loved on them, fell in love, while wanting nothing but their eventual return home. Last night we brought them home, to possibly never see them again. Experiencing big emotions.
