Goodnight. âThe whole Moomin family had, as usual, hibernated for the winter and set the alarm clock to ring on the first of April. But the clock was old and not to be trusted, so it woke them up for Christmas instead. Since she was awake anyway, Moominmamma made coffee.â ~ đźď¸ đď¸ Tove Jansson

Hand to God, in response to a comment (mine), re one of these sagas, of "This never happened," someone said, "It didn't need to have happened, it just needed to be told." And that's why we're well and truly cooked.

It's official: "Sinners" is the Best Film of 2025 as far as the Boston Society of Film Critics is concerned. "Sentimental Value" and "One Battle After Another" had plenty of votes, but Coogler's Delta masterpiece had plentier.

Almost certainly the best thing I was ever told about owls was when I met an owl handler at an owl sanctuary and he told me that the wild owls who lived near the sanctuary worried about the tame show owls there and sometimes stopped by to leave them shrews and mice as presents.

Stories like these make me angry and sad. Needless suffering. Not understanding. And how long it takes to move from hearing "What's wrong with you?" as a shaming criticism to asking "What might be different about me, and why?" from curiosity. And the grief that can follow those answers.
