Vought is not interested in “normal” democratic politics: He seeks to “traumatize” civil servants, use the military to suppress protests, and sees Trump as an agent of God’s will. He is convinced to be fighting a noble war to defend his “real America” of white Christian patriarchal rule.

Vought is singularly focused on bending the entire government machine to Trump’s will. He believes that any check on the power of Donald Trump, who Vought literally describes as a “gift of God,” is illegitimate. There is no line he doesn’t feel justified to cross.

Russell Vought embodies the radicalization of the conservative movement; his example captures how far removed from democratic politics the Trumpist Right is. Vought is convinced to be fighting a noble war against a vast leftist conspiracy that has supposedly taken over the country.

But there is nothing noble or respectable about what Vought is doing, about his vision for the country. He is a fully competent, utterly committed radical ideologue. He lusts for counter-revolution and radical measures. There is no line he doesn’t feel justified to cross.

You can accuse people of slippery slope fallacy or being needlessly pedantic, but these are questions that don't have clear answers. The reality is that there isn't actually a way to enforce a rule like that without creating an incredibly wide grey area that has a lot of people concerned.

But, even for the not tame kinks, what is the justification for banning it other than people just not liking it? Are you going to go with the violence in video games argument? That fictional depictions of violence or immorality cause their viewers to become violent and immoral?

If you post a drawing of a character that's naked, absent any other context, what indicates consent? What if you're voyeuristically watching them? Could the rule change mean literally any nsfw image is at risk? could art be removed and accounts banned arbitrarily at the whims of a rogue moderator?

But also, when it comes to consent specifically, in the context of static images and illustrations what is and is not consensual is often going to be up to the whims and discretion of the person doing the moderating. This creates a precarious situation for anyone posting nsfw content.

First, let's get this point out of the way from the start; many people will be mad with any changes to the rules that extend beyond legal requirements. It's a censorship issue, content that is legal and was allowed is now no longer allowed despite being legal. That sets an uncomfortable precedent.
