Starting to assemble the Lunar Lander. So far using smoke alarm parts, table tennis ball, roll on deodrant parts, plastic card, unused kit parts. The engine bells are made from waste bins that came in a KiloKits selection I bought on Amazon. The lids I will use for the lander feet.

Not many people know this, but Hawker Hurricanes sniff each other's droppings to assess fitness, dominance and breeding condition...

Got an email saying Air Craft (UK air brush retailer) is closing for good at the end of December. So everything is on sale. But I can't see anything on the web site about the closure. www.air-craft.net

So this is the new project. Years ago I bought my nephew a model of Thunderbird 5. I have no idea what he did with it, but I ended up with the base (a moon scape!?!?). Anyway I have cleaned it up and repainted it. Now I am making a Lunar Lander. Roller ball deodrants come in handy for fuel tanks.

Changed my mind. Putting this idea to one side for now. Thinking about another idea.

So decided to upload some new photos of the locomotives I have. The blue one is a Class 31, and the oldest, probably 60 years? The green diesel is the newest, (Hornby) Class 39 i think. And my favorite having had a massive refurb and repair, the Britannia which is about 57 years old.

I also have a Triang Class 31 which had a broken carbon brush and didn't run well. I replaced the brush, cleaned it up and tried running it again. One piece of Hornby track was fine but three other pieces it struggled.

So having finshed restoring the Britannia, i started cleaning up the rollingstock I have stored away in a box. Some of it was a bit broken. I have an idea for the next project:

Finished. The 70000 Britannia is refurbished. Cleaned, repaired, repainted, redecaled and working. Approx 57 years old and looking brand new.

Well first side done. I think that worked. Some of the gloss varnish got scrapped away when I removed the line below the number, but I think the satin varnish that I will be using tio finish will hide that.

Learning Under Falling Skies. It's sort of Galaxian meets Missile Comand meets Independence day. The campaign looks interesting.

Me positioning each digit on the real thing. Using a pair of tweezers adjust it by a fraction of a millimetre about 50 times. Within those 50 movements I get it in the correct position about 3 times. The first two I decide aren't quite right but the third is OK. 😂🥴🤦

Experimenting with the numbers. So i have a 5 digit number lined up using the lines under the number decal for alignment. When dry I applied water to the line with a brush, avoiding getting the numbers wet. Then carefully scraped away the line with the back of a knife blade. 👍

Bought a little track and a cheap Hornby analogue controller to test the Britannia 70000. And it's a runner! Had to run it back and forth along the straight track a few times, but eventually it was happy. I have a diesel loco as well which is younger, but that doesn't go (yet).

The alignment jig works well 👍. There are four photo-etched braces which go where the struts join the wings and, apparently, they’re a bit of a swine 🙄 #HistScaleModels

Oh I just spotted something. Those lines between each number are so that you can align them in a row!!! They are actually attach to the number by a transparent bit of decal. I assume you apply the decal and then remove the line carefully later? I'll see if there are instructions.
