Ahoy, #histscalemodels! Those pesky .30 cal barrels just arrived and after a bath in the blackening fluid, my M706 finally can defend itself. The mantlet needs the final top coat of OD green and the muzzles need a bit of graphite but I'm SO GLAD I held out over the kit supplied barrels.

Heads up, #histscalemodels. I mean, probably no one will actually stop using theirs, but...

I supported my trans homies and the TERFs got BIG mad at me. I wasn't aware there was a hive of them on Bsky but I got one heck of a block list out of it, so wins all around.

Did I finish the Firefly? Of course not. And it hasn't stopped me from starting on the M4A1 with the Hauler PE. Such a great PE set to work with, actually. Yeah, the parts are miniscule, but very well thought out. No Eduard 40 folds over here. H3 Models tank commander for scale. #histscalemodels.

Saw these at an antique market. $350 for the Alfa seemed a bit steep, but $15 for the old Monogram F-18 was borderline robbery.

Agonizing over this #festivetankchallenge, #histscalemodels. You see, my original plan was to use the M4A1 with a load of PE and an resin figure, but for the sake of time I went with the Firefly OOTB... But as usual I've gone overboard with the base so now I think it needs the more detailed tank.

This is as far as I've gotten on the #festivetankchallenge2025, depicting a British Sherman IC Firefly in Normandy using what will eventually be a house for cover. Highly unlikely I'll finish it in time, but quarter scale is still pretty fun to work with.

Very happy to be "done" with his one, #histscalemodels. Overall a very enjoyable build even with HobbyBoss' usual foibles. You eagle eyed viewers may notice there's no guns in the turret... The metal barrels I ordered on the 8th are MIA, and I refuse to use the lumpy sticks HB passes as barrels.

Working on the base, now. I'm using the same colors I used to predust the M706, and then hit it with VMS Red Earth Pigment Jockey. On its own, I think it's still too red, but when the vehicle sits on the base it's the right color 🥴

I love it when the gift I ordered arrives in my state and is then rerouted to Puerto Rico just in time for Christmas.

I am a monument to my own hubris. No, I don't have anywhere to display this. No, I've never built a ship before. Yes, I am certain I will have a lot of fun building this.

Does anyone have any experience with Zimi Models' M1296 Stryker Dragoon? I know Zimi and Panda shared moldings and the only Panda kit I built was the M8 AGS and it was such a pig to assemble. Should I just bite the bullet and go with the AFV Club offering? #histscalemodels

This morning's progress, #histscalemodels. Really trying to get comfortable with the VMS Pigment Jockey line. There is a learning curve but I'm pretty happy with the results. Plus, first wheel done!

I need #histscalemodels' opinion. Is this TOO red for Vietnam mud? I'm experimenting with pigments and binders, using a white base to paint the desired color over. I'm planning on this receiving a wash of something a bit darker, so that may tone it down. Thoughts?

I -almost- got this MP decal on without any major crap ups. I like thin decals but man, these were made of butterfly wings or something, sheesh! Oh well, that's what they make white paint for 😅😂

Ran out of steam to paint the camo pattern on the second figure's jacket because I spent SO LONG getting the base to look like Syrian sand and dirt. Still not sure I achieved it, but no matter. It's done. Thanks for following, #histscalemodels

Once again I am amazed by the level of fidelity Meng has crammed into their 1/72 scale kits. I'd written the scale off for armor because the few Trumpeter 72nd stuff is built in the past came out much too like those badly proportioned diecast models sold in the toy aisle. #histscalemodels

Got the ZPU-2 base coated and chipped. Successive tones of AK Real Color 4BO lightened with buff did the trick. Moved onto painting the sighting mechanism which makes me wonder if I should have done this in sub assemblies! 😵 #histscalemodels

#histscalemodels, here is where we sit. I didn't notice that McBeard's hand wouldn't grasp his rifle without serious surgery and I was too far along to start cutting. The second bloke needs a bit more work on his face and I've yet to paint the camo on his jacket. Not even attempting his keffiyah. 😅

Figure #1 is done minus his rifle. The mount for the AA gun is also done, as is the bit of stowage and final details. Last photo is how it sits on the primed base. #histscalemodels.

So, Andy's sent me this 1/72 T-72 from Meng instead of what I actually ordered. They made it right in the end but I had this non-standard scale kit lying around... It was a joy to build; a suberbly engineered little gem. Looking forward to painting and setting it in a vignette. #histscalemodels
