The Fed Circuit shot down a design patent application covering a waffle with a waffle-y side and a smooth ("planar") side. The court agreed with a PTO examiner who found that the claimed design was anticipated/predated by the "Belgian Waffle Sandwich Video" posted to YouTube in 2016.
