@theaidsmemorial.bsky.social I worked with a man named Mike Pascoe. We were Met Police Traffic Wardens in London’s West End. I was 20 he was in his 30’s. I found out 2 weeks ago that as I suspected he died from #AIDS. Every death is a tragedy and a life lost that should have been lived with pride.

I detest FB, but the submitted memorial stories on the @theaidsmemorial.bsky.social page are crushingly haunting and powerful. Atlanta lost so many brilliant, creative souls. May their memories be a blessing.

I was just talking about Steve Showalter. My assistant at Chicago House, 1989-90. We were all dolled up for our first black-tie gala, and had just made it through evening. He died about two years later. I still miss his sweet smile. #HIVsky @theaidsmemorial.bsky.social

At Highgate cemetery to visit Ian's grave, 32 years ago today he died from an #AIDS related illness at Patrick House hospice in Hammersmith. Place a yellow rose on his grave so his spirit knows he is still remembered with love. #whatisrememberedlives

I stopped posting to Insta. I occasionally check posts from irl friends. But I also still check The AIDS Memorial account to read accounts of those we lost from the people who loved them. Then I read the comments & if I'm not already crying, I will be. It feels esp important to do this ritual today.

If you weren't there, and haven't studied what happened, you're missing a part of the puzzle of how we got to where we are. We as a community have to grieve how much we lost, and we need to remember. What is remembered, lives. Highly recommend the film, book, + AIDS memorial insta.

This was posted on reddit. The men (unnamed) were partners, both died of AIDS. The man on the right died mid-1980s. Left died 1990-91, his address book black with dead friends crossed out.

The AIDS Memorial Instagram is so incredibly special. Grateful to those who run it for keeping the memories of these magnificent people alive.

Sometimes when I'm backed up on crying I read the AIDS memorial Instagram page until I run out of tears.

I strongly recommend following and supporting the AIDS memorial Instagram + the Making Gay History podcast + Instagram. Not all gay people are queer or invited to the revolution NATE but those of us who are know: what is remembered, lives.

The idea that someone positive can live a full life instead of a certain short death sentence still overwhelms me when I think about it. The AIDS Memorial is a wonderful memorial on Instagram.

Hear hear. I follow the The AIDS Memorial on FB because I think as a queer human being I owe it to my fellow queers to witness their memory. I cry at each post every time.

#AIDSLifeCycle 2025 Day -2 Remembering Josler Here at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, I attended my first funeral for a friend who died of AIDS. His name was Josler. He was Brazilian, salty, and full of life. He was only 35. I will always remember him.

20 yrs ago right now, I said goodbye to my sleeping dad and left the hospital with my mom and sister. Mom returned after dinner. We watched Napoleon Dynamite with my uncle and went to bed. Mom woke me at 4 to tell me Dad had lost his fight with AIDS. I’m okay, but it’s weird how fresh it still feels

Today is World Aids Day! Remembering my friends who died: Tom, Ralph, Michael, David and especially Allen: how we used to go dancing in our favorite Pyramid Club in NYC. Oh, how I still miss him.

12/1/23 -Today is Word AIDS Day. In the U.S. from 1980-2000, 1/2M people died from HIV/AIDS, mostly in our (LGBTQ+) community. Worldwide far more. I was 9 in 1980 & lived through all of it. I’ve personally lost 45 people to it, all late 80s to 2000. This post is for all lost. Pls reskeet for them

This was my best friend. Tyrone Jamison. I’m celebrating his heavenly 53rd birthday today, World AIDS day. He left this world in 2003, dying of an AIDS related illness. It’s my dream to see a world where HIV is eradicated , like smallpox. #THTorguk ❤️🙏🏾

On this World AIDS Day, I remember my tío Cano. He passed August 1991, two months before I was born. He lived an all-too brief life, my queer Puerto Rican ancestor, but his memory guides me, lifts me.
