An amazing sea swim this evening, beneath little terns, Sandwich terns and Mediterranean gulls. And, in the dunes on the way back, many thousands of orchids of four species in bloom: marsh helleborine, pyramidal, coccinea early marsh and (not pictured) southern marsh.

The multimillionaire Nigel Farage rails against climate action, while gliding from one air-conditioned building to another. He knows that he and his ilk will suffer least. But he is prepared to sacrifice everyone else to the demands of his fossil-fuelled funders. So much for "the man of the people".

Letâs not fudge why Starmer is in this mess. Yes, he didnât have political instinct. Yes, the public is much less patient and more critical. But Starmer was also - to use his own phase - morally bankrupt on key issues of the day, from Gaza, disability benefits, to immigration.
