Before cameras, a technique called 'soft-blocking' (where you place sticks over a sett entrance) was how professional ecologists gauged if a sett was in use or not. As badgers enters or exits, they *should* knock the sticks over... However this isn't foolproof... 😂😂 #ecology #scottishnature
