Such excitement seeing Bill from

What on earth is BakeOff doing with this showstopper. Why does the pastry have to be a foot high.

We did not make it. There's five of us trying to get to Scotland, a woman at the station said she'd all her manager go see if they'd put us in a taxi and now seems to have disappeared.

Update, train unexpectedly terminated in Shrewsbury. Been put in a taxi to Preston to try and make a 8.41 train. We don't know if we're going to make it.

I really wish we'd kept records and had the data on how many times we'd had to say 'Fuck off Paul' in the over a decade we've done co-ordinated Bake Off viewing.

Excellent Monday night gig that finishes at 10 and is at a venue about 3 minutes walk from the station? The gig gods are with me tonight.

Yesterday when it started being reported that this was going to be the press conference I messaged
@abbis.bsky.social
saying that it was another thing to guilt pregnant people over and the idea was clearly that they should just live with pain, and lo and behold.

at Linehan’s trial, he claimed under oath that the then-17-year-old trans girl he harassed has been involved in trans activism since 2013 and when it was pointed out to him that she was only 6 years old then, Linehan replied “so he says”…implying that she was lying about her age?

It's simple, if you throw paint on a plane then you get proscribed and any 80 year olds defending you get arrested. If you ask people to burn down hotels, and they try, you get an interview in the Telegraph and positive coverage in the BBC. That's sensible, proportionate policing.

Guess what? The story about the trans M&S employee and the bra fitting is a pack of lies and distortions. Want to know what really happened and how colleagues stood up for her? Read her own account here.

1 in 3 doctors were born overseas. 1 in 2 builders were born overseas. 1 in 6 nurses were born overseas. 1 in 4 transport workers were born overseas. 1 in 7 UK business founders were born overseas. 1 in 5 university academics were born overseas. The UK would be screwed without them.

Petition to stop men "just asking ChatGPT" and then sharing reams of OT stuff that fails to actively address the point at hand. HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH YOUR FELLOW HUMANS WHO ARE TRYING TO ENGAGE WITH YOU. We could all ask ChatGPT whatever - don't waste my time and water.

This idea of craft can be increasingly important as AI replaces much of human labor. As a tailor friend put it: it's the difference between a hand painted Mona Lisa and a computer copy. Even if others can't tell the difference, some people may value the handmade version bc it represents human skill.

I get that no one’s bothered about the opinions of progressive urban lefties because it’s supposed to be a given that in the voting booth we’ll swallow our pride*, but I’m tired of the discourse just being “we should immiserate refugees to pacify [constituency]”. *morality
